Social Media Users Say Madonna Looked ‘Unrecognizable’ During Grammys Appearance

“Me attempting to ignore the fact that Madonna has a whole new face,” one Twitter account posted alongside a classic meme video of Adele looking confused.

“This legit looks like a Madonna impersonator with pics of [t]he real Madonna in the background. She really f***ed up her face,” another account agreed.

“Madonna is unrecognizable,” someone else echoed.

“Madonna looks good for her age… if her age is 2,700 year old vampire who eats babies and small animals alive,” comedian Tim Young quipped.

Many users also pointed out how Madonna’s hairstyle was reminiscent of the new art installation statue atop the Appellate Division Courthouse of New York State, which critics accused of turning “abortion into a pagan idol.” They further noted how the singer was onstage at the Grammys to introduce the hell-themed “Unholy” performance.

Madonna’s speech during the show reiterated that she’s happy being controversial and counter-cultural. 

“Here’s what I’ve learned after four decades in music,” she said, per Page Six. “If they call you shocking, scandalous, troublesome, problematic, provocative or dangerous, you’re definitely onto something.”

The “Material Girl” singer further thanked fellow “rebels” for “forging a new path and taking the heat for all of it.”

This isn’t the first time Madonna’s new look caused an uproar on social media. Last April, the performer posted several TikTok clips that also had followers questioning if she’s had plastic surgery. 

“If you’re old, just look old. It’s okay. You aren’t going to fool anyone and the only other option is to look like you’re suffering a severe allergic reaction to something,” Daily Wire host Matt Walsh shared at the time. “Better to just look old. There is dignity in it. There is no dignity in whatever this is.”
