Six gang-affiliated Massachusetts men were taken into custody on charges related to the theft of roughly $50,000 worth of lottery tickets from convenience stores across two states.

They are associates and members of the Trinitarios, the DA’s office reported, and their Wednesday arrest was part of a larger investigation called “Operation Smash & Grab.”

Over the course of three months, multiple law enforcement agencies investigated the various break-ins inflicted on convenience stores in eastern Massachusetts and New Hampshire, the report noted.

These thefts took place between February and April, and each occurred in the early morning hours, according to a report.

At least $50,000 worth of lottery tickets were taken in the process as the suspects stole books, individual tickets, and rolls and broke into at least one cash register, officials said.
