Singer Halsey Shuns, Mocks Pro-Life Fans, Suggests She Wants ‘Door To Hit Them On The Way Out’

Pop singer Halsey, real name Ashley Nicolette Frangipane, on Monday shunned her pro-life fans via social media, after some apparently walked out of her concert as she promoted abortion.

“THE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE WHO JUST WALKED OUT OF THE HALSEY CONCERT AFTER NIGHTMARE WHEN SHE SPOKE ABOUT ABORTION WAS SICKENING. FIGHT FOR WHAT IS RIGHT,” one social media user tweeted. 

Halsey, a new mother herself, responded, “downside of doing outdoor venues: no door to hit them on the way out.”

The singer continued to be unapologetic about her advocacy for abortion.

“The ‘people pay to see you sing not hear your views’ argument is so dumb,” the artist wrote. “No, you paid to see me use a stage as a form of expression in the manner that I choose. Sorry you lack the critical thinking to realize that the rhetorical power of music doesn’t always serve your escapism.”

Following the U.S. Supreme Court decision on Friday that overturned Roe v. Wade, the “Without Me” singer said she was “defeated.”

“I have been advocating for abortion, reproductive rights, and bodily integrity for as long as I’ve had a platform and I’m running out of ways to word and frame the severity of the impact that fundamentalism has on our country,” she wrote. “I know some of you look to my page for information or guidance but I need a little bit of time to speak to some people with more authority and experience than me and gather my thoughts. I don’t want to just contribute to antagonistic noise.”

“I’m just defeated at the moment,” Halsey added.

Last year, Halsey changed her so-called preferred pronouns to “she” and “they.”

The 27-year-old notably said during her pregnancy that the experience did not give her “strong, binary feelings about ‘womanhood.”

“I’ve been thinking lots about my body. It’s strange to watch yourself change so quickly,” she wrote. “I thought pregnancy would give me very strong, binary feelings about ‘womanhood’ but truly it has leveled my perception of gender entirely.”

“My sensitivity to my body has made me hyper aware of my humanness and that’s all,” Halsey added. “Doing a remarkable thing. And it’s grand.”
