Sinema ignoring Democratic donors who want their money back: Report

Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ) is reportedly ignoring Democratic donors who want their money back after the former Democrat switched allegiances to become an independent last December.

According to a source, donors aren’t even getting their calls back after Sinema’s campaign previously claimed they were working to return the money. The senator and her people aren’t responding in some, the source continued.

Arizona’s Sen. Kyrsten Sinema is spotted in Washington.

As she courted GOP donors in advance of a likely 2024 reelection bid, Sinema is reportedly harshly criticizing Democratic leaders, including President Joe Biden and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer( D-NY ), both in public and privately.

Sources told the New York-based information source that Sinema likely understands there is no point in attempting to make amends with Democratic sponsors since they won’t be writing her controls any longer.

Some Republicans think Sinema can be persuaded to party with the GOP or at the very least support some of their proposed regulations in the divided Senate because of her tumultuous relationship with Democratic Party. She is considering running for a second term the following year, so it might not be enough to fend off Republican opponents.

In year-end campaign fundraising reports for 2022, the independent Arizonian has emerged as one of the best fundraisers in the Senate, trailing Sen. Bernie Sanders( I – VT ). According to the Federal Election Commission, Sinema raised more than$ 800,000 last year, and by the end of 2022, it had$ 8.2 million in cash on hand.

However, Sinema is seen as a more resilient incumbent going into the upcoming election cycle, especially now that she left the Democratic Party and was open to opposition from both parties. Rep. Ruben Gallego( D-AZ ) will challenge Sinema for her Senate seat the following year, according to polling done a month ago that indicated he was in the lead in whichever of the two candidates — a Republican and himself — could win the election.
