Simone Biles set to compete a year before Paris Olympics.
Seven-time Olympic medalist Simone Biles is making a highly anticipated comeback to elite competition. After stepping away from the 2020 Tokyo Games due to concerns over her mental health, Biles is ready to return to the gymnastics arena.
During her time away, Biles has been vocal about the abuse she and her teammates endured at the hands of former team doctor Larry Nassar. She even testified on Capitol Hill, shedding light on the issue. Additionally, she recently tied the knot with Green Bay Packers strong safety Jonathan Owens.
Exciting news for Biles fans! ESPN reports that the champion gymnast is planning to compete at the U.S. Classic in early August. This will mark her first event since the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. It’s a significant step as she gears up for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.

USA Gymnastics has confirmed the news, announcing that Biles will be participating in the women’s field at the U.S. Classic. The event is scheduled to take place on August 4-5 at Chicago’s NOW Arena.
Joining Biles in Chicago will be some of her Tokyo teammates, including Sunisa Lee, the all-around champion, who brought home two gold medals from the 2020 Games. Jade Carey and Jordan Chiles, who also competed in Tokyo, are set to showcase their skills as well.
Biles, a household name in gymnastics, shocked the world when she announced her withdrawal from the team competition in Tokyo. U.S.A. Gymnastics stated that she had a medical issue and would be evaluated for future competitions.
Later, Biles revealed that she had experienced a condition known as “the twisties,” which can be dangerous and cause athletes to lose their spatial awareness during aerial maneuvers. Despite the challenges, Biles managed to land safely but made the difficult decision to prioritize her well-being.
