Silicosis Issues to Be With US for Decades: Workplace Relations Minister
The workplace relations minister says that issues surrounding dangerous engineered stone products from Australia could continue to be a problem for decades.
The national safety watchdog for work is currently investigating the possibility of banning silica products after a meeting with workplace safety and health ministers.
High silica concentrations in products, such as kitchen benchtops and other surfaces, are linked to cancerous lung diseases.
Tony Burke, Federal Minister said that regardless of how a ban is interpreted, products have the ability to make a big impact.
