‘She’s Professionally Ruined’: Megyn Kelly Says Post-Trial Amber Heard Is ‘Unemployable’

Independent journalist and Sirius XM radio host Megyn Kelly said on Wednesday that after the conclusion of the defamation trial between actors and former spouses Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, the latter was “unemployable.”

Kelly made the comment to Floyd Abrams on his podcast “Speaking Freely” — after he asked what she thought was next for the “Aquaman” actress. Reflecting on the fact that a jury had found Heard guilty not only of defamation but of malicious intent as well — awarding Depp $10 million in compensation and $5 million in punitive damages — Kelly argued that Heard was a “walking red flag.”

“I think she’s professionally ruined for the time being. I’m not sure whether she comes back from this, even in a town that’s very liberal and that would be much more in the knee jerk ‘I believe all women camp,’” Kelly explained.

She went on to argue that at least as far as Heard’s career was concerned, the trial that truly mattered had played out in the court of public of opinion. “The problem for her in Hollywood is not that a jury has said what it’s said. The problem for her in Hollywood is the nation watched this trial and they decided she was a liar and he was a truth-teller.”

“Yes, they were manipulated by the press. Yes, they saw YouTube mashups that the jury didn’t see and all of that, but they had the opportunity to decide with her in the court of public opinion, if that’s how they were feeling and in watching her testimonial and so on, they didn’t,” Kelly added, noting that the court of public opinion was more likely than a jury to be manipulated by what was being said in the media — and that had worked in Depp’s favor as well.

She went on to mention the fact that petitions had already begun to circulate calling for Heard to be dropped from the next “Aquaman” film — and she pointed out the fact that as much as Hollywood had rallied behind the “believe all women” mantra, at the end of the day, movie producers still wanted to make money. If they believed casting Amber Heard would lower the box office value of a film, they were less likely to take the risk.

“They don’t wanna see her. She’s come to represent more than a woman who falsely accused a beloved actor. She’s come to represent all women who women and men feel have made false accusations. Now that’s unfair, but that’s where we are. And that’s why I say she’s probably unemployable,” Kelly concluded.

Judge Jeanine Pirro took things a little further, accusing Heard of doing a disservice to victims of domestic violence and adding, “You do not represent women, you represent the worst of women who try to falsely blame men and that is the end of it.”
