A Virginia mother, Veronica Youngblood, has received a recommended sentence of 78 years in prison from a jury after being convicted of killing her two daughters. Youngblood shot and killed her children, Sharon and Brooklynn, in 2018 to get back at her ex-husband for planning to move away with their youngest daughter. She was convicted of two counts each of first-degree murder and felony firearm use. She had already started screaming during her sentencing hearing, but despite her protests, the jury recommended the heavy sentence. Commonwealth Attorney Steve Descano lamented the loss of life that occurred due to Youngblood’s actions, expressing his hope that the outcome of the trial can bring some measure of healing for the victims’ family.
