‘Shazam!’ Star Says ‘It’s A Struggle’ To Get Paid His Worth In Hollywood

” Shazam!” Even after working in the industry for more than 30 years, star Djimon Hounsou claimed that” it’s a war” to have paid his worth in Hollywood.

The 58-year-old stated in a recent interview with The Guardian that he is” now struggling to try to make money” while observing those who have been acting in films for just as long as him who are doing better financially.

Hounsou remarked,” I’ve come up in the business with some people who are incredibly wealthy and receive very little of my plaudits.”

Therefore, he continued,” I feel extremely cheated in terms of both the task and the income.” ” I still need to provide evidence of my desire for payment.”

The artist continued,” They usually come at me with a perfect low game. We only have this much for the role, but we really love you and think you can get so little. ” Show after show, it’s a battle.” I haven’t already met the movie that gave me a fair wage.

At one point, the” Shazam!” The sun of” Fury of the Gods” expressed his displeasure at the lack of functions available to black people over the years, noting that in a five-year run, he played three slaves.

Hounsou expressed his frustration at not being acknowledged by the industry for his work, saying,” I felt truly cheated.”

He continued,” Right, we talk a lot about how the Oscars are so pale, but I remember that I used to have absolutely no support from my own people, the media, or the field itself.” ” You should be happy that you’ve been nominated, and that’s that ,” it felt.

In Steven Spielberg’s” Amistad ,” where he played a disobedient slave, Hounsou got his first big break. Since then, he has made appearances in popular films like” Gladiator ,”” Blood Diamond”,” Tomb Raider ,” and” Aquaman.”

The DC world has a certain level of respect, he claimed, of all the movies on which his work has been based.

In the first” Shazam ,” he said,” There wasn’t much to the role at first… I did it and it was fun!” However, it was a little more courteous the next day.

He continued,” They [ Hollywood ] themselves occasionally make the point of saying:” We should give him more, he’s a little underappreciated.” ” I believe they are aware of that themselves. Hey, I have to get this war!
