Sens. Rubio, Gillibrand introduce legislation to aid veterans VA care for burn pit related injuries

Two senators introduced a bipartisan bill to streamline veterans’ ability to get treatment for illness caused by exposure to burn pits.
Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) each shared videos Friday promoting the Presumptive Benefits for War Fighters Exposed to Burn Pits and Other Toxins Act.
This legislation aims to help the more than 3.5 million troops who have been exposed to the fumes expelled by the pits, which contribute to lung cancer and auto-immune diseases.
Rubio called for and end to delays and said it’s time to get our veterans the care they need and deserve.

The new act would only require documentation that the military member received a campaign medal associated with the Global War on Terror or the Gulf War and that they suffer from a qualifying health condition.
