Senate Republicans recruit Sam Brown to challenge Democratic incumbent Jacky Rosen in Nevada

Sam Brown, a retired Army captain and Purple Heart recipient, has announced his campaign to challenge Democratic incumbent Jacky Rosen in Nevada. Brown, who was severely burned from a roadside bomb explosion during a deployment in Afghanistan, is determined to make a difference.

In his campaign announcement, Brown criticized Rosen and President Joe Biden for what he sees as their divisive policies that have abandoned Nevada and divided America. He promises to be a senator who gets the job done for Nevada and is ready to lead and fight for the people.

Brown’s entrance into the race is a significant win for Senate Republican leaders, who recruited the wounded veteran to challenge Rosen. National Republican Senatorial Committee chairman Steve Daines quickly endorsed Brown, praising his service and sacrifice.

Daines’s immediate backing of Brown reflects his commitment to influencing GOP primaries as the party aims to regain a Senate majority in 2024. This marks a departure from the approach of his predecessor, Florida Republican senator Rick Scott, who refrained from intervening in top primaries during the previous year’s races.

Brown’s military background is impressive. He applied to West Point following the 9/11 terrorist attacks and graduated from the U.S. Military Academy in 2006. During his deployment to Afghanistan, his vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb, resulting in severe burns and visible scarring. After retiring from the military, Brown pursued a business degree and moved to Nevada to start a small business that provides pharmaceuticals to veterans.

Despite finishing second in the primary behind Adam Laxalt in his grassroots Senate campaign in 2022, Brown remains determined to serve the people. He believes that leadership, focus on the mission, and dedication to the people are qualities he brings to the table.

To secure the opportunity to challenge Rosen, Brown will first need to win a primary against former state lawmaker Jim Marchant, who previously ran for Nevada’s secretary of state.
