Senate Democrats propose Section 230 regulations

Senate Democrats pushed a bill to strip some liability protections given to tech companies through Section 230. Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.), Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) and Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) introduced that bill Friday.

Currently, the law safeguards Big Tech companies from any legal action that could result from content posted on their sites by third parties. The changes would allow victims of cyber-stalking, discrimination and harassment to file charges against those companies.

Congressional Republicans have long been in favor of ending liability shields for Big Tech companies and will likely support the effort.
