Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) has been optimistic about infrastructure negotiations with the administration, but has expressed concerned about how Joe Biden plans to pay for it.
During an interview Tuesday, the ranking member of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee said the bipartisan meeting at the White House was productive and engaging. He said both Republicans and Democrats discussed adding more funding to existing programs, which would bring the size and price of the plan down.
I will meet with @POTUS today, but bipartisan negotiation MUST look different than what we had for the American Rescue Plan.

The Mississippi lawmaker also stood his ground on raising taxes on small businesses.
“The point I’m making to the president is to raise corporate taxes on small business job creators, actually is a job killer and I don’t think he wants to do that,” Wicker stated. “Those of us in Washington, D.C. need to get it done, so we can show the country we can do big thing sin a bipartisan way.”
Despite his opposition to corporate tax hikes, Wicker also said he was not ruling out any tax increases in order to pay for the plan over time.
