Sen. Hawley: It is a lie that I incited violence

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) spoke out against the left’s attempt to silence him for objecting to the results of the 2020 election.

In an interview Wednesday, the Missouri senator claimed he did not incite violence at the Capitol by objecting to the outcome of Pennsylvania’s election.

Hawley noted his goal in objecting was not to overturn the election, but to advocate for election integrity. He also added it’s a lie that he and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) wanted to incite violence, saying that rhetoric was used to silence him and his Republican colleague.

“That is a lie told by the left-wing mob that now wants to silence me and Ted Cruz and 140 House members and 13 senators,” Hawley stated. “And anybody who would dare stand up to them, anybody who is a Trump supporter who refuses to bow to the knee.”

Hawley also warned against the left’s attempt to label debating on the Senate floor as “inciting violence,” noting Americans would not be represented if that was the case.
