Sen. Feinstein Recovering at Home After Hospital Treatment
WASHINGTON—Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D.Calif.), oldest member of Congress has been discharged from hospital following treatment for shingles. She did not say when but she stated that she was able to go back to Washington.
Democrats control the Senate by a narrow 51–49 margin, meaning that even one or two absences can impact whether contentious legislation can pass.
“I continue receiving treatment and look forward to returning to the Senate as soon as possible,” Feinstein, now 89, stated it via Twitter.
Feinstein recently declared that she won’t seek reelection for the Senate seat she holds since 1992. It triggered a race of California Democrats to replace Feinstein.
Both Democrats and Republicans now have 49 votes in Senate, despite her absence.
