SEE IT: Marjorie Taylor Greene hits back after Biden singles her out in first veto

Following his first veto, President Joe Biden took to Twitter to specifically call out Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA).

Biden stated that legislation proposed by the congresswoman would cancel a Labor Department rule allowing retirement plan managers to consider environmental and social issues when making investment decisions, thereby putting the retirement savings of people across the nation at risk.

In response, Greene slammed the president on Twitter, stating “No one has put our retirement at risk more than you, Joe. American families can’t count on checks from China to pay their rent and groceries like your family does.”

In Biden’s tweet, the legislative measure was referred to as “extreme MAGA limitations on retirement funds.” The move is part of an effort to address the growing focus on ESG (environmental, social, and governance) in business. In February, the House voted 216-204 to roll back the rule, with centrist Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) publicly criticizing Biden’s decision.

“Despite a clear and bipartisan rejection of the rule from Congress, President Biden is choosing to put his Administration’s progressive agenda above the well-being of the American people,” Manchin stated. “This ESG rule will weaken our energy, national and economic security while jeopardizing the hard-earned retirement savings of 150 million West Virginians and Americans.”

Biden contends that the bill would “risk your retirement savings by making it illegal to consider risk factors MAGA House Republicans don’t like.”
