MSNBC Host Mika Brzezinski Praises Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy

During a recent broadcast of “Morning Joe,” MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski had nothing but praise for Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. Brzezinski commended McCarthy for his recent interaction with a Russian journalist during a press conference in Israel.

McCarthy’s Testy Exchange with Russian Reporter

Brzezinski opened the segment by highlighting McCarthy’s testy exchange with a Russian reporter who challenged him on American support for Ukraine. The reporter asked if the US policy regarding sending weaponry to Ukraine would change in the near future. McCarthy replied, “I support aid for Ukraine. I do not support what your country has done to Ukraine. I do not support your killing of the children either. And I think for one standpoint, you should pull out and I don’t think it’s right. And we will continue to support because the rest of the world sees it just as it is.”

Brzezinski’s Rare Bit of Praise

Brzezinski was impressed with McCarthy’s response and called it his best moment as Speaker of the House. She said, “Nothing bad to say about that, It was a really — we’ll get to it, have a bigger conversation about the state of the war in Ukraine. But the speaker of the House really planting a flag on what needed to be said on that side.”

Brzezinski’s co-host, Willie Geist, agreed with her and said that McCarthy went back hard at the Russian reporter. Prior to the 2022 midterm elections, McCarthy warned that he was not in favor of sending a “blank check” to Ukraine, but he has voted several times in favor of specific aid packages.
