Schumer challenges Xi over China’s ‘disappointing’ stance on Israel-Hamas conflict.

Schumer Expresses Disappointment to Chinese Leader Over Lack of Condemnation for⁤ Hamas Attack

During ‍his visit ‌to China, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.)⁤ conveyed his ⁤disappointment to Chinese Communist Party (CCP) leader Xi‌ Jinping regarding ⁢China’s failure ⁢to condemn Hamas’ deadly attack ‌in Israel. Schumer, leading a bipartisan congressional delegation, expressed his dismay at the CCP’s⁤ remarks that⁣ showed “no sympathy” for the Israeli people.

“The ongoing events in Israel⁢ over the last few days are nothing short ⁤of horrific. I urge you and ⁢the Chinese people to stand ⁤with the Israeli people and condemn the cowardly and vicious attacks,” Schumer ‍emphasized.

Schumer’s disappointment stemmed from the Chinese Foreign⁢ Ministry’s statement on Oct. 8, which expressed “deep concern” over the escalating tensions and violence but ⁤failed to condemn ⁢Hamas’⁤ terror attack in Israel.

The CCP called for a ceasefire and proposed a “two-state solution” and ⁣the establishment of an⁣ independent Palestinian⁣ state to‌ resolve⁢ the‍ conflict.

Before Schumer’s remarks, Yuval Waks, a senior official ⁣at the Israeli embassy in Beijing, had commented⁤ that Israel expected a stronger condemnation⁢ from China.

Waks emphasized that calling for a two-state solution was inappropriate given the ‌scale of Hamas’⁢ attack⁣ and⁢ the significant casualties it caused.

Israel ⁤declared a state of war after Hamas launched a ⁢wave of attacks against its civilians and⁣ properties, leading to retaliatory strikes on ‍Gaza. The death toll on both ⁤sides has surpassed 1,100.

Countries worldwide, including the United States,⁣ the European Union, the United ⁢Kingdom, and India, have expressed solidarity with Israel and⁢ condemned Hamas’ assaults as terrorist attacks.

The Israeli Embassy in Beijing stated on Sunday, “We also hope that China can provide solidarity and support to Israel at this difficult moment.”

China’s Stance on the Conflict

Following Schumer’s remarks, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson ‌Mao Ning ⁣expressed China’s deep sadness⁤ over civilian casualties and condemned acts that harm civilians.⁣ However, her statement did⁣ not explicitly condemn either party involved in the conflict ‍or express ⁢support for Israel.

Mao reiterated the need for a two-state solution and resolving the Palestine question through political means to address each party’s legitimate concerns.

Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley stated on X that it comes as‍ “no surprise” that the “Communist ‌China propaganda machine is siding with the Hamas terrorists.”

China has traditionally supported the Palestinian cause but has also strengthened ties ‌with Israel for trade, technology, and diplomacy purposes.

In recent years, the CCP regime has increased its‌ involvement in‌ the Middle East, facilitating the restoration of ties‍ between Saudi⁢ Arabia and Iran.

During⁢ a meeting in June, Chinese leader Xi ⁣told Mahmoud ‍Abbas, the head of the Palestinian Authority, that China is willing to assist the Palestinians in achieving internal reconciliation ⁣and promoting peace talks with Israel.

Xi expressed the CCP’s support for the Palestinian people’s cause and ⁢proposed a ⁢three-point plan to mediate the conflict with Israel.

Lia⁣ Onely and the ‍Associated Press contributed to this report.

Why is⁢ calling for a “two-state solution” and the establishment of an independent Palestinian‌ state not an appropriate response to Hamas’ attack on ⁢Israel?

Kes from the Israeli military. The violence has resulted⁤ in the ‌deaths of both Israeli and Palestinian civilians and has further escalated tensions in the region.

Schumer’s disappointment with China’s response is justified. As a major global power, China should take ‌a clear stance against terrorism and condemn attacks that indiscriminately target civilians.⁢ Hamas’ attack on Israel falls under‍ this category, ⁤as it aims to instigate fear and harm innocent people. By⁢ failing to condemn Hamas, China sends a message that it is indifferent to the loss ‌of innocent lives and the ⁤suffering of the Israeli people.

Moreover, calling for ⁣a “two-state solution” and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state as a means to resolve the ⁢conflict is ⁢not appropriate in ‍this context. While a peaceful resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is necessary, ⁢it should not overshadow the immediate need to⁣ condemn acts of terrorism. Hamas’ attack cannot be dismissed or overlooked under the guise of a political solution. It requires a strong and unequivocal ⁣condemnation from all nations, including China.

Israel has every right to expect a stronger condemnation from China. The severity of the Hamas attack and the significant casualties it caused should compel all nations to express their outrage ‍and solidarity with the Israeli people. Failing⁣ to do so undermines the fight against terrorism and‌ sends ⁢a dangerous message that violence targeting civilians can go unpunished.

It is crucial for‌ all nations, including China, to stand together against terrorism. The fight against terrorism⁣ requires a unified global effort, where no act of terror is tolerated or overlooked. China, as a responsible global power, should reevaluate its position‌ and join the international community in condemning Hamas’ attack on⁤ Israel.

Schumer’s disappointment reflects the sentiment shared by many who believe that terrorism should be unequivocally condemned, regardless of political considerations. The Israeli people deserve the support and solidarity of all nations in ⁤their fight against terrorism.

Going forward,⁣ it is essential for ⁢China to reassess its position and⁣ take a stronger stand against terrorism. Condemning acts of terror is not a political‌ statement but a clear message‍ that attacks on innocent civilians are unacceptable and should be met with universal condemnation. By⁢ doing ⁤so, China can demonstrate its commitment to global peace and security and contribute to‌ a more stable and just world.

In conclusion, Schumer’s expression of disappointment to Chinese ⁣leader Xi Jinping over China’s lack of condemnation ⁣for Hamas’ attack is justified. It‍ is important for all nations, especially ‌major global powers like China, to take a strong stance against terrorism and condemn acts of violence that target innocent civilians. By calling for a two-state solution, China has‌ diverted attention from the immediate need to denounce ⁢Hamas’ attack on Israel. It is⁤ crucial that ⁣China and ⁣all‍ nations
