Rubio rejects DeSantis’s claim that war in Ukraine is mere ‘territorial dispute’

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), Rejects Comments by Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), dismissing the Russian invasion Ukraine As little as a “territorial dispute.”

“It’s not a territorial dispute … any more than … if the United States decided that it wanted to invade Canada or take over the Bahamas,” Rubio Hugh Hewitt, radio host Tuesday “Just because someone claims something doesn’t mean it belongs to them. This is an invasion.”

DESANTIS HIGHLIGHTS GOP RIFT OVER AIDING UKRAINE: NOT A ‘VITAL’ INTEREST

Tucker Carlson asked DeSantis questions about his top choices for the GOP presidential nomination.

“While the U.S. has many vital national interests, securing our borders, addressing the crisis of readiness with our military, achieving energy security and independence, and checking the economic, cultural and military power of the Chinese Communist Party, becoming further entangled in a territorial dispute between Ukraine and Russia is not one of them,” Florida’s governor stated this in a statement.

DeSantis stated that the United States should not provide Ukraine with additional military aid, as this would allow Ukraine to engage in wars beyond its borders.

DeSantis’ answer is in line with that of former President Donald Trump who frequently suggested that the Russian invasion was Europe’s problem. Carlson asked the same questions and Trump replied that opposing Russia wasn’t a good idea. “vital American national strategic interest” He stated that it was time for both countries to come to an agreement.

Trump and DeSantis are at odds with many other members of their party, particularly top Republican leaders who believe that a sovereign Ukraine is in the U.S.’s best interests.

Senator Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R.KY) emphasized that sentiment during remarks to the Munich Security Conference last Month. He told attendees that party leaders “overwhelmingly support a strong, involved America and a robust trans-Atlantic alliance.”
