Famous people like pop symbol Beyonce, Microsoft Corp co-founder Bill Gates, and Brazilian soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo lost their verified positions as a result of Twitter’s’s removal of legacy blue checkmarks from user profiles on Thursday.

Twitter later provided Pope Francis with the white confirmation checkmark after he lost the azure bug earlier on Thursday.

Some people now bore their scars, like poet Stephen King and basketball star LeBron James.

King, the author of” The Shining ,” who has previously criticized Musk for being a terrible fit for Twitter, tweeted:” My Twitter account says I’ve’ve subscribed to Twitter Blue.” No, I haven’t. According to my Twitter accounts, I provided a phone number. Not that I have.

Musk responded to him by tweeting,” You’re’re welcome namaste ,” with a hands-folded emoji.

James, who had previously stated that he would not pay for identification, had not paid to have the checkmark, according to The Verge.

Musk individually tweeted,” I’m’m physically paying for a few.” William Shatner, a Star Trek professional, had last month complained about having to pay to have his blue box, and he later tweeted” Just Shaun, LeBron and King.”

Previous U.S. President Donald Trump and reality TV star Kim Kardashian were among those who lost their medals.

Twitter has changed how it distributes the coveted blue checkmarks that were previously given to famous people, journalists, managers, politicians, and organizations after verifying their names under Musk’s’s rights. They were used as a sign of integrity.

In an effort to build more income streams beyond advertising, Musk announced in November that Twitter would start charging$ 8 per month for the emblem.

Later, the business offered checkmarks in many colors, including white for authorities, international organizations, and officials and gold for businesses.

The” government-funded” label was also removed from Twitter’s’s accounts on Friday by U.S. – based National Public Radio ( NPR ), British Broadcasting Corp, and public broadcaster Canadian Broadbanding Corporation( CBC ).

On the addresses of Xinhua News and journalists connected to government-backed publications, it removed the” China say – affiliated marketing” tag.

After the social networking company branded it” state-affiliated media” and later” government-funded media ,” NPR stopped publishing content on its 52 official Twitter feeds.

Additionally, CBC halted its Twitter activity and argued with Musk about the platform’s’s description of” public funded.”
