Ron DeSantis Torches Gavin Newsom For Claiming That California Is ‘The Real Freedom State’

Republican Florida governor Ron DeSantis denounces Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom speaking to Fox News Monday evening after Newsom said that California was “the real freedom state.”

DeSantis and Fox News’ Sean Hannity spoke out about California losing nearly 1,000 residents each day to Florida, largely due to sharp differences in their governance systems.

“Florida, we’re not a sanctuary state,” DeSantis said. “When I became governor, we were able to ban sanctuary cities. The rule of law is important. And so, of course, we’re not going to recognize lawless identifications that are done by California.”

“California, they have abandoned the rule of law,” He continued. “They are a sanctuary state. They don’t follow federal immigration laws. And, of course, the Soros prosecutors, they pick and choose which laws to enforce. There will be people in Los Angeles who will get mugged, Sean, on the street and the prosecutor won’t bring charges against these guys, and they end up going out and they victimize other people.”

“So, I think public safety is incredibly important,” He concluded. “And when you abandon the rule of law, you end up getting a lot of the results that they have had in California, and people respond by fleeing the jurisdiction.”

FOX NEWS HOST SEAN HANNITY: I’d like to ask about the battle against Gavin Newsom. These are the words he actually spoke: “Welcome to the real freedom state, California.”

He said that. Gavin replied that it was great. Your state is rapidly losing its population to Florida. You have gone out there on the record and said that — that your immigration plan would invalidate Governor Newsom I.D. for illegal immigrants. Newsom reveals that Ron DeSantis has been using illegal immigrants as pawns.

Isn’t he — aren’t sanctuary states — are they aiding and abetting lawbreaking? Is it not still against law to enter the country?

Florida isn’t a sanctuary nation. After I became governor we were able prohibit sanctuary cities. It is vital that the rule of law be upheld. California’s lawlessness is important. We will not recognize them.

They have also abandoned the rule and law in California. They consider themselves a sanctuary country. They do not follow federal immigration laws. They also choose the laws that they will enforce, as per Soros’ prosecutors. Los Angeles will have people who get mugged by Sean on the streets. The prosecutor will not bring any charges and these men end up going to jail and victimizing others.

Therefore, public safety to me is very important. When you disregard the rule of law you get a lot of what they had in California. People respond by running from the area.
