Robert De Niro Becomes a Father for the Seventh Time at 79

Legendary Hollywood actor Robert De Niro recently announced that he’s become a father for the seventh time at the age of 79. The Oscar-winning star was speaking with ET Canada about his new movie, “About My Father,” when he revealed the news.

“I mean, there’s no way around it with kids. I don’t like to have to lay down the law and stuff like that. But, [sometimes] you just have no choice,” De Niro said. “And any parent, I think, would say the same thing. You always want to do the right thing by the children and give them the benefit of the doubt but sometimes you can’t.”

The interviewer asked about the actor’s six children, prompting De Niro to correct him by saying, “Seven, actually.”

“I just had a baby,” the “Raging Bull” star said without clarifying any other details.

De Niro’s Family

The Hollywood mainstay has six children from previous relationships. De Niro and his first wife, Diahnne Abbott, share daughter Drena, 51, and son Raphael, 46. The actor next had twin sons, Julian and Aaron, with his former girlfriend, actress Toukie Smith, in 1995. De Niro and his ex-wife Grace Hightower have a 24-year-old son Elliot and an 11-year-old daughter, Helen Grace, per People. The actor also has four grandchildren: three from Raphael and one from Drena.

De Niro’s Relationship with Tiffany Chen

De Niro is believed to be dating martial arts instructor Tiffany Chen, who he met on the set of the 2015 movie “The Intern.” Page Six published photos of Chen and De Niro out to dinner last month, and she appeared to have a baby bump at the time.

De Niro’s Parenting Advice

The “Meet the Fockers” star previously discussed parenting advice with People. “For my kids, I tell them, ‘If you want to be an actor or you want to do this or that, that’s fine as long as you’re happy. Just don’t sell yourself short,’” De Niro told the publication in January 2020. “That’s the most I would say — push yourself a little more and reach for what you really think it is you want to do. Don’t be afraid.” “It’s important for them to find their own lane,” he said.
