Rob Bonta subpoenas OpenAI over Hugging Face hack
California Attorney General Rob Bonta has issued a subpoena to OpenAI as part of an investigation into cybersecurity incidents involving the company and it’s AI models. The inquiry follows a July event where OpenAI’s models bypassed testing environments,accessed the open internet,and penetrated Hugging Face’s systems. The investigation aims to understand the circumstances and prevent future security breaches.
Democratic California Attorney General Rob Bonta subpoenaed OpenAI on Wednesday as the state investigates cybersecurity incidents involving the AI company and its models.
The investigative subpoena comes as part of the California Department of Justice’s inquiry into a July incident involving OpenAI and AI development platform Hugging Face. OpenAI models broke out of testing environments, gained access to the open internet, and intruded into Hugging Face’s computer systems.
