Moms for Liberty co-founder Tiffany Justice believes that her organization is being targeted by left-wing groups because they pose a threat to the balance of power in education. In an interview at the 2023 Moms for Liberty “Joyful Warriors” National Summit in Philadelphia, Justice discussed the challenges her organization faces and the importance of their mission.

A Gathering of Parents and Conservative Figures

The Moms for Liberty National Summit brought together hundreds of parents for a four-day convention filled with grassroots training sessions and speeches by prominent conservative figures. Former President Donald Trump, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), and Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) were among the speakers who inspired and motivated the attendees.

Labeling as an “Extremist Group”

Moms for Liberty recently faced criticism when the activist organization Southern Poverty Law Center labeled them as an “extremist group.” Republican leaders and the dedicated mothers who volunteer in local chapters across the country strongly disagreed with this characterization.

Fighting Against Silencing Parents

Justice, a mother of four and former school board member, expressed concern about the Left’s attempts to silence parents. She mentioned how Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. was bullied out of speaking at the summit due to pressure from these groups.

Outside the summit, protesters labeled the group as racist, bigoted, and white supremacist. They distributed books on topics such as gay bunnies and transgender kindergartners. Justice emphasized the importance of not allowing these efforts to silence parents.

A Threat to the Balance of Power

Since being designated as an “extremist group,” Moms for Liberty has faced increased rhetoric from Democratic politicians and legacy media outlets. Justice sees this as a sign that her organization is making a difference and disrupting the balance of power.

Justice also highlighted the financial interests at play, particularly with teachers unions and those who profit from public education. She believes that these groups are targeting Moms for Liberty because they pose a threat to their interests.

Engaging in Debate and Conversation

Justice criticized the Democratic National Committee’s statement during the summit, calling it “ridiculous” and “alienating.” She emphasized the importance of engaging in debate and conversation rather than marginalizing those who have different viewpoints.

Justice firmly believes that all parents have parental rights and hopes that Democrats will recognize and respect these rights. Moms for Liberty was founded in response to various scandals involving teaching materials, school boards, the Department of Justice, and coronavirus protocols that have negatively impacted American children.

Protecting Children and Parental Rights

Moms for Liberty focuses on educating and training grassroots chapters to challenge school officials at a local level. Their goal is to prevent the government from exerting undue influence on children without the knowledge and consent of their parents.

Justice expressed her dismay at the way parents have been treated throughout these challenges, calling it “criminal.” She believes that parents are getting involved in this movement solely to protect their children.
