Republicans and Democrats unite after WHCA dinner shooting
After gunfire was reported at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, officials and politicians across party lines quickly condemned the violence and said attendees-including President Donald Trump-were safe.
Reports said manny guests heard what sounded like gunshots, prompting the Secret Service to rush the stage to evacuate Trump and other Cabinet members. Speaker Mike Johnson thanked first responders, and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and gov. Gavin Newsom also posted that the situation was under control and that political violence is unacceptable.

Josh Shapiro said political violence has no place in the country, and U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro, along with D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and D.C. Police Chief Jeff Carroll, said the shooter is set to be arraigned on Monday.
Reactions poured in from Democrats and Republicans after the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner shooting on Saturday night, with both sides condemning the violence.
