DeSantis asserts sole Republican candidacy for presidency.

Gov. Ron DeSantis: The Only Republican Candidate‍ Running to Win

Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) boldly declared on Wednesday that he is the ⁤sole Republican candidate‍ with ‍his⁣ sights set on the presidency. His statement comes just hours before the highly anticipated Republican Party’s⁢ first presidential primary debate, scheduled to air on Fox News at 9 p.m. tonight.

The Lineup of Competitors

DeSantis will face formidable opponents in the debate, including Gov. ⁤Doug Burgum (R-ND), former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, former Vice President‌ Mike Pence, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, and Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC).

Where Do They Stand?

One⁢ of the key questions ⁤up⁢ for debate is where each candidate stands on crucial issues. It’s a chance for the American people to gauge their positions and ‍make informed decisions.

“I’m not running to be vice⁣ president,” DeSantis confidently stated during his appearance on Fox News. “I’m not running⁤ to be in the Cabinet. And I’m not running to be a contributor on cable news. We’re ⁢running to win, and we’re going to show people that we’ll get the ‌job done.”

DeSantis’s ‌statement not only serves as‍ a subtle dig⁣ at ‌his primary opponents but also takes ⁤aim at a PAC for‌ former President Donald Trump. The ⁤PAC recently launched a website promoting the event as the “2024 Vice Presidential Debate,” implying that the‍ candidates are vying to‍ be Trump’s running mate.

A video ‍clip of DeSantis’s interview was shared‌ on social media by a pro-DeSantis PAC called Never‌ Back Down. Interestingly, the PAC’s Twitter account was briefly suspended on Wednesday, but it has since been restored. According ⁤to a PAC staffer, Twitter ⁢claimed it was a mistake by their automated systems, which mistakenly flagged it as “spam.”

Meanwhile, Trump has decided not to participate in the debate. Citing a ⁢recent ⁤poll that shows him leading the 2024 Republican primary race, he will‌ instead engage in an interview with former Fox ⁢News host Tucker Carlson. The interview will be posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, during the same time as⁣ the Republican debate.

Despite facing legal challenges, including four cases investigating various allegations, Trump’s supporters remain steadfast in their⁣ desire to vote for him in 2024. According to a poll from Morning Consult, 64% of Republicans would be “very” or “somewhat” willing to cast their vote for ⁤Trump in the primary, even if he is convicted. Additionally, 60% ‍would still vote for Trump⁢ if he were imprisoned, and this sentiment remains virtually unchanged for the general election.
