Rep. Waters denies inciting violence against Republicans

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) has been attempting to deny reports that she incited violence against Republicans. In an interview on Sunday, Waters argued her words of support for far-left rioters did not equate to President Trump’s calls to protest election results.
Waters claimed she was not encouraging harm towards Republicans. However, back in 2018, Waters called on her supporters to “create a crowd” and push back on members of President Trump’s Cabinet.

“If you look at the words that I used, the strongest thing I said was tell them they’re not welcome,” Waters said. “Talk to them, tell them they’re not welcome.”
The congresswoman tried to defend her words, saying it was in response to President Trump’s immigration policies at the time.
