Rep. McCarthy calls on Harris to attend border terror briefing

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R) said he knows Kamala Harris has not been to the border since she was dubbed Joe Biden’s border czar.

While speaking with reporters on Wednesday, McCarthy revealed Border Patrol has seen a high influx of migrants from countries like Yemen and Sri Lanka crossing the U.S. southern border.

The Republican lawmaker went on to says he’s requested a classified briefing on two Yemeni men on the FBI’s terror watch list who were seen crossing the border on two separate occasions this year. He’s also requesting Harris attend that briefing to see how out-of-hand the border crisis has become.

President Biden said the surge was seasonal. But the #’s don’t lie – 172k migrants were taken into custody last month, a two-decade high.

The DHS Secretary is heading to the border today but is denying press access. Americans deserve transparency on the crisis the Admin created.

McCarthy stressed that border security should be a bipartisan issue.

“Our border agents are overwhelmed and they deserve the help of their federal government,”stated the minority leader. “I’m calling on (lawmakers) to put politics aside, let’s work together for the security of our nation.”

McCarthy accused the Biden administration of trying to distract Americans from noticing “how much of a disaster” the border has become.

It’s only April 2021, and we’ve already surpassed border encounters from the entirety of FY2020. Does anyone really think this is just “cyclical?”
