Republican Congressman Jim Banks (Ind.) said he believes the best way to win the midterms is to embrace the fight against critical race theory. Banks advised to lean into the culture war “because the backlash against CRT is real.”

On Friday, the Indiana lawmaker said that we are winning on the culture war because of the issue. “We are in a culture war. On one side, Republicans are working to renew American patriotism and rebuild our country,” said Banks. “On the other, Democrats have embraced and given platform to a radical element who want to tear America down.”

According to polling by “Heritage,” more than three-quarters of voters are opposed to CRT being taught in schools. Additionally, more than 60 percent of voters also disagree that the U.S. is an inherently racist country.

Banks pointed to grassroots movements by parents across the country standing up to school boards because they are fed up with the lessons being taught. So far, at least 20 states have either introduced or passed bills banning critical race theory from public schools.
