Rep. Comer urges Hunter Biden’s ex-associate to be honest.
Rep. James Comer Reacts to DOJ’s Request for Sentencing Date
Rep. James Comer (R-KY) recently shared his thoughts on the Department of Justice’s letter requesting a sentencing date for a witness to testify before his committee. In an interview with Maria Baritomo on Fox News’s Sunday Morning Futures, Comer expressed his surprise at the timing of the letter, which was sent on a Saturday. According to Comer, it was the first time he had ever seen the Department of Justice take action on a weekend.
The Importance of Devon Archer’s Testimony in the Hunter Biden Investigation
Comer emphasized the significance of Devon Archer’s upcoming testimony before the House Oversight Committee. He stated that Archer had the opportunity to be a hero by telling the truth, just like the two whistleblowers and the judge in Delaware who rejected a plea deal for Hunter Biden. Comer expressed his hope that Archer would join the ranks of those Americans who come forward and speak the truth.
Archer, who was previously convicted on two felony charges related to defrauding a Native American tribe, has managed to avoid prison time through a series of appeals. However, he has missed three previous subpoenas from the Oversight committee, chaired by Comer. His testimony is expected to shed light on the DOJ’s involvement in Hunter Biden’s legal case.
Notably, Hunter Biden had agreed to a plea deal for tax-related charges, but the deal was dismissed by U.S. District Judge Maryellen Norieka. The House Oversight and Accountability Committee recently questioned IRS agents Gary Shapley and Joe Ziegler, who made allegations of Justice Department officials suppressing investigative steps. These allegations included blocking access to Hunter Biden’s laptop, preventing interviews with Hunter Biden himself, and restricting questions about messages mentioning President Joe Biden.
Biden has pleaded not guilty to the tax charges.
