Iowa Republican Senator Blasts Hunter Biden’s Sweetheart Plea Deal
Iowa Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley is not holding back in his criticism of the recent plea deal struck by Hunter Biden with federal prosecutors. The deal, which only includes tax crimes and a firearm violation, has raised concerns that the president’s son will avoid prison time.
Under the agreement, Hunter Biden was charged with two federal misdemeanor counts for failing to pay taxes and one felony count of improper firearm possession. However, he will not face prosecution for the firearm charge as long as he stays drug-free for two years and refrains from owning another firearm.
Grassley argues that the lenient treatment from the Justice Department is unacceptable given the substantial evidence in the hands of federal law enforcement. He points to extensive government and bank records, as well as evidence on Hunter’s laptop, which corroborate allegations of money laundering and other serious criminal violations.
The senator also highlights whistleblower reports from the Department of Justice and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) that suggest federal investigators have hindered the tax probe. These allegations raise concerns about potential interference to protect the Biden family from thorough investigations.
House Republicans have also expanded their investigation into the Biden family’s finances, citing suspicious activity reports housed within the Treasury Department. Grassley emphasizes that additional verifiable information about criminal conduct involving other Biden family members has been provided to the Department of Justice.
Continued Scrutiny and Allegations
Grassley’s investigation, conducted alongside Wisconsin Republican Sen. Ron Johnson, has uncovered a network of payments between Hunter Biden and Chinese nationals linked to the Chinese Communist Party. Their 2020 report revealed that Hunter Biden received $3.5 million from the wife of an ex-Moscow mayor and allegedly paid for prostitutes who may have been trafficked.
As President Joe Biden himself faces credible bribery allegations from his time as vice president, more whistleblowers from within the FBI have come forward with similar claims of the Department of Justice shielding the Biden family from thorough investigations.
