Rep. Bush sides with St. Louis inmate rioters

Missouri Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo.) is taking heat after she pledged to prioritize the needs of rioters who set fires and broke windows in a St. Louis jail.
The backlash came after the Democrat tweeted on Saturday, quoting Dr. Martin Luther King Junior and describing the prison takeover as simply “the language of the unheard.”

Many have pointed out that Bush’s argument is hypocritical as she was absolving the prisoners for their violent behavior when she was all too eager to condemn conservative demonstrators.
“I remember sitting in the office with my team and just thinking to myself…I feel like this was one of the days out there on the streets when the white supremacists would show up and start shooting at us,” the representative stated regarding protest at the U.S. Capitol.
I’m in the Capitol. I’m safe, and my team and I are sheltering in place.
The President of the United States has incited a riot that has now stormed the Capitol. There are rioters roaming the halls of the Capitol. I saw them with my own eyes.

The city of St. Louis is still working to repair fire and water damage after more than 100 inmates tried to take over the City Justice Center. One corrections officer was wounded and the city is determining whether to file additional charges against the inmates responsible.
