Remains Found In Oklahoma Identified As Missing 4-Year-Old Athena Brownfield

Athena Brownfield, a 4-year-old Oklahoma girl who disappeared last week after her remains were positively identified as hers, ended the search for Athena.

Brownfield was found missing by a mail carrier on January 10, after her 5-year-old sister was seen wandering about outside of her Oklahoma home, Cyril. CNN reported. Ivon Adams and his wife Alysia were arrested days later and charged in Brownfield’s disappearance. Police allege that the couple were caring for the young girls.

“Due to a gag order filed in Caddo County District Court, there is no additional comment on the investigation from the OSBI,” According to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations (OSBI), in a statement Posted to Facebook

Ivon is facing additional charges for first-degree murder as well as felony child neglect. He is accused of killing Brownfield and then burying Brownfield near his home. Alysia has pleaded guilty to two counts felony child neglect. She is charged with “failing to protect (Athena) from physical abuse” From her husband, a charging letter said.

Alysia admitted to authorities, on 12 January, that Ivon beat Brownfield multiple time Christmas night. This ultimately led to her suicide.

Alysia detailed the brutal details of her husband’s alleged murder, saying that after he beat Brownfield, he “held her up by her arms” She was indeed there “not moving and her eyes were barely open,” According to the arrest affidavit.

Ivon allegedly then “laid her on the ground and punched her at least three more times in the chest.” After the beating, Brownfield stopped moving.

Then, he allegedly “buried her near a fence line” According to court documents, the couple lived outside their former house in Rush Springs. Alysia told police that Ivon had taken a photograph of her. “large broken branch” Over the spot where he had buried the little girl.

Ivon was taken into custody in Arizona. He was then extradited to Oklahoma where he is now in prison.

On January 17, 2017, the OSBI announced It was. “recovered the remains of a child in rural Grady County outside of Rush Springs.” At the time, the bureau couldn’t confirm the remains were those of Brownfield, but said they had been taken to the medical examiner’s office in Oklahoma City for identification.

Court documents revealed that the Adams had been caring for Brownfield and her older sister for the past two years, after the children’s biological mother left them in their care for unknown reasons. The couple allegedly didn’t take the girls to the doctor and didn’t enroll Brownfield’s older sister in school.

Brownfield was laid to rest on Wednesday.
