READ IT: Here’s What The Man Who Said He Wanted To Kill Kavanaugh Told Police On Phone

In calls made to 911 before he was arrested, a California man charged with attempting to kill a Supreme Court justice reportedly said that he was thinking about killing himself and needed “psychiatric help.”

Authorities arrested Nicholas John Roske, 26, of Simi Valley, California, in the Washington suburb of Chevy Chase, Maryland, early Wednesday. A Department of Justice affidavit details how Roske allegedly traveled to Kavanaugh’s home armed with weapons and burglary tools with the intent to kill the justice and prevent him from ruling on Second Amendment and abortion cases.

Audio recordings released by the Montgomery County Police Department and obtained by CNN show that in the middle of the night on Wednesday, Roske called 911 twice and told the operator that he had weapons in a bag and was having suicidal thoughts.

“I need psychiatric help,” Roske told the operator, the publication reported.

“There’s pepper spray,” he reportedly told the operator, who asked if he had other weapons besides the gun he mentioned. “There is a knife. There are, there is, um, tools. No other firearms. No explosives, nothing like that.”

The operator then reportedly questioned him: “And you said you came from California. Do you know someone down here?” to which he responded: “Brett Kavanaugh … the Supreme Court justice.”

“OK, and what were you coming to do? Just to hurt yourself and him? Or what was going to happen?” the operator reportedly asked.

“Correct,” Roske answered, according to CNN, before telling the operator that he had figured out Kavanaugh’s address partially from an article that contained a picture of the justice’s home displaying the house and street number.

He had taken a taxi to Kavanaugh’s home, he continued, and it “dropped me off at his address.”

“I’m just around the corner from it,” he reportedly told the operator, sharing that he was planning to kill himself as he didn’t think he could “get away with it.”

Roske also said that he has been “hospitalized a lot of times.”

The 26-year-old Californian appeared in federal court Wednesday in Greenbelt, Maryland, and agreed to stay in jail, CNN reported.

Asked by District Judge Tim Sullivan if he understood the charges brought against him, Roske said he wasn’t “thinking clearly” and that he was on medication that he had taken that day, but that he understood what was going on, according to the publication.

Roske told authorities that he was upset about the “leak of a recent Supreme Court draft decision regarding the right to abortion as well as the recent school shooting in Uvalde, Texas,” indicating that “he believed the Justice that he intended to kill would side with Second Amendment decisions that would loosen gun control laws.”

“Roske stated that he began thinking about how to give his life a purpose and decided that he would kill the Supreme Court Justice after finding the Justice’s Montgomery County address on the Internet,” the affidavit said. “Roske further indicated that he had purchased the Glock pistol and other items for the purpose of breaking into the Justice’s residence and killing the Justice as well as himself.”

It is not immediately clear whether the Kavanaugh family was home when this incident occurred. The FBI would not comment further to The Daily Wire on the Kavanaugh family’s whereabouts.
