Ramaswamy addresses Philly’s homeless, claims corruption in aid organizations.

Entrepreneur and Republican presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy Gives Inside Look at Philadelphia’s “Third-World” Kensington Neighborhood

Vivek Ramaswamy, an entrepreneur and candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, recently took the time to visit Philadelphia’s Kensington neighborhood, which he described as resembling a “third-world” area. In a video shared on Twitter, Ramaswamy showcased the squalor and dire conditions that plague the community.

“You don’t have to go further than Kensington to visit the third world,” Ramaswamy tweeted with a video highlighting the area’s squalor. “The ground littered with needles. People shooting up on the streets mid-morning.”

During his visit, Ramaswamy engaged with the homeless population in Kensington, seeking their input on potential solutions to the challenges they face.

Personal Interactions and Solutions

Ramaswamy asked one individual, “What do you want to see by way of solutions?” The man responded, “For one, I want to see, like, help with better shelters… Open up more shelters, more rehab, more help. We’re not just going to do it on our own. If we had the shelter, then maybe somebody might take the mindset of going somewhere else.”

Ramaswamy also highlighted a shelter that community members described as nothing more than a tent. He shared, “They call them ‘poverty pimps.’ That’s what the volunteer was just telling me. They get the money, but they don’t actually do much with it.”

Another woman expressed her frustration, stating, “Even the lady at the shelter will fight you.” She explained that the workers at the shelter have the power to decide who can enter and who cannot, suggesting a potential issue of government corruption.

Community members also revealed that the area is plagued by heroin and crystal methamphetamine addiction.

“Biden hasn’t even walked through here,” a man told Ramaswamy. “So, you’re taking your own incentive to go through each neighborhood, poverty, if it’s bad or not, and see what you can do to better it, and I respect you for it.”

Vivek Ramaswamy’s visit to Kensington sheds light on the urgent need for improved shelters, rehabilitation programs, and government accountability in addressing the challenges faced by the community.
