Influencing decisions: Obama advises White House amidst rising doubts about Biden

Former President Barack Obama is in‍ regular communication with President Joe‍ Biden as Biden’s election race against former President Donald‌ Trump intensifies. Obama, Biden’s former vice ⁢president, is reaching ‌out to key Biden campaign aides, as reported by the New York Times. Obama is actively involved in supporting Biden’s ⁢campaign amidst concerns about Trump’s lead in swing-state polls. Their evolving relationship is becoming more evident ‌as the 2024 election approaches.

Former President Barack Obama has reportedly had regular talks with President Joe Biden as Biden’s election rematch with former President Donald Trump gets closer.

Obama, whom Biden served as vice president under, has also made calls to several top aides at Biden’s campaign, according to the New York Times, in an attempt to help stave off Trump, who is leading Biden in most swing-state polls.

The report, citing an anonymous senior Biden aide, noted Obama has “always” been concerned about a possible Biden loss.

Biden and Obama, who have had a complicated relationship over the years, have been seen campaigning together more frequently as the 2024 election looms.

The two participated jointly in a campaign call alongside former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) last weekend to celebrate the Affordable Care Act, commonly known as “Obamacare.” Biden and Obama will also take the stage in a fundraising event with former President Bill Clinton in New York City on Thursday, bringing together three of the four living Democratic presidents.

Reports have swirled about Obama and Biden’s talks recently, including a report from Time last week that during a meeting last year, the former president warned Biden that Trump could sweep the battleground states in the November election.

Obama reportedly talked Biden out of running in 2016, allowing former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to be the Democratic nominee. The former president also did not endorse Biden in 2020 until after the primaries despite them running on the same ticket in 2008 and 2012.

With Trump holding polling leads in nearly every swing state and beating Biden in most national polls, a reversal of where polling was four years ago for the two men, Obama appears to be taking a more hands-on approach to ensure another four years for Biden.
