Police Dept. Faces Federal Probe Over ‘Brave Cave’ Torture Claims
FBI Investigating Allegations of Police Torture in Baton Rouge
The FBI is currently conducting a civil rights investigation into the Baton Rouge Police Department following allegations of police torture at a warehouse known as the ”Brave Cave.” The investigation was prompted by claims that members of the department abused their authority. Baton Rouge Police Chief Murphy Paul requested the FBI review of his department.
This investigation comes in the wake of two lawsuits against the department and the resignation of Troy Lawrence Jr., whose father serves as deputy chief. The mayor of Baton Rouge, Sharon Weston Broome, has ordered the closure of the warehouse.
The severity of these allegations has raised concerns among the community, and the police department has initiated both administrative and criminal investigations to address these troubling accusations.

One lawsuit, filed by Ternell Brown, a grandmother, accuses the police department of stopping her car in June and subjecting her to a strip search at the ”Brave Cave” after finding prescription pills in her possession. The lawsuit claims that she was released without charge after more than two hours of humiliation.

The lawsuit argues that the officers were following official department policy, which allows invasive strip searches based on “reasonable suspicion to frisk.” However, this policy contradicts established U.S. Supreme Court jurisprudence.
In another lawsuit, Jeremy Lee alleges that three police officers beat him so severely that he required hospitalization for broken bones. The suit claims that Lee was detained without reasonable suspicion or probable cause and was subjected to further abuse at the “Brave Cave.” The officers allegedly kicked and punched him while mocking his screams for help.
Body camera footage suggests that the officers turned off their cameras during part of the incident. Despite the brutality of the beating, Lee was released without any charges being filed against him.
Attorney Thomas Frampton, who represents both Lee and Brown, has stated that additional allegations of misconduct have emerged, indicating a deeply entrenched problem within the police department.

Y is boiling over. People from all walks of life are demanding justice and accountability. The police department is facing serious allegations of torture, and the FBI has stepped in to investigate.
The allegations stem from incidents that allegedly took place at a warehouse referred to as the “Brave Cave.” Members of the Baton Rouge Police Department are accused of abusing their authority and subjecting individuals to inhumane treatment. One of the lawsuits, filed by Ternell Brown, a grandmother, alleges that she was stopped by the police in June and subjected to a strip search at the “Brave Cave” after prescription pills were found in her possession.
