Philadelphia sheriff threatens and degrades ICE as ‘fake, wannabe law enforcement’
Philadelphia officials have catapulted themselves into the national debate over illegal immigration enforcement and Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers.
Philadelphia Sheriff Rochelle Bilal made headlines over the weekend when she made disparaging remarks about ICE officers, calling them fake law enforcement professionals. Her comments were an unsolicited response to the death of Renee Good. Bilal made the critical comments about ICE, inexplicably, as the city of Philadelphia, nor any of its officials, had anything to do with Renee Good’s death in Minnesota. Nevertheless, Bilal made her remarks and issued a stark warning to ICE when doing so.
She started by asking those in attendance at the press conference to say the name “Renee Good.”
“I’m Rochelle Bilal, the sheriff for the city and council of Philadelphia, and I say her name, Renee Good,” Bilal said.
She repeated her name three times in total before continuing.
“This should not have happened, but we’re here today,” Bilal continued. “Let know, that law enforcement professionals, real ones, not the fake, made up, ICE, probably Trump’s new army to attack citizens of the United States. Did you hear what I said? No law enforcement professional wears a mask. None. None.”
“Those that come into our communities wearing a mask to commit crime,” Bilal said. “Thank God for our district attorney, Larry Krasner, who said he’s going to lock them up. And I’m saying now, we are not going to whisk you away, for them to hide your identity, because when you do it there, you getting arrested there. No whisk away for them to hide you. None of that here. None of that here.”
She then provided a description, albeit arguably an inaccurate one, of the events that transpired in Minnesota, while criticizing the actions of ICE agents.
“Law enforcement professionals do not shoot at moving vehicles,” Bilal added. “I’m not saying fleeing cause she wasn’t fleeing. She was getting out of the way. Law enforcement professionals do not stand in front of moving vehicles, invoking an action that is illegal. No, we don’t.”
Bilal then began attacking and insulting them, again referring to them as “fake, wannabe law enforcement.”
“And we stand here today with all those who stand against the made-up, fake, what you can call ICE, uh, professional law enforcement. I don’t call them none of that. I call them ‘made up, fake, wannabe, law enforcement, because what they do is against, not only legal law, but the moral law.”

Bilal concluded her remarks by further insulting ICE agents, threatening them with arrests, and referring to President Donald Trump as “the criminal in the White House” before gloating that Trump would not be able to keep ICE agents from going to jail, if they supposedly committed a crime.
“So, I’m with the DA, and we will work with them,” she said. “If any of them want to come in this city and commit a crime, you will not be able to hide. Nobody will whisk you off. You don’t want this smoke, cause we will bring it to you.”
“And the fake, whatever they call them, cause I can’t say the name,” Bilal said. “But the criminal in the White House would not be able to keep you from going to jail.”
