Former President Donald Trump and his former vice president, Mike Pence, engaged in a heated exchange on Wednesday regarding the events of January 6, 2021. Both men are vying to become the Republican Party nominee in 2024.
Pence took aim at the former president during an interview on Fox News with host Martha MacCallum. The discussion revolved around the federal charges Trump is facing for his alleged attempts to overturn the election.

Pence urged people to read the indictment themselves, expressing his hope that the former president would not face charges.
“I don’t know if the government can meet the standard, the burden of proof beyond reasonable doubt for criminal charges,” he said. “But the American people deserve to know that President Trump and his advisors didn’t just ask me to pause. They asked me to reject votes, essentially overturning the election. To uphold my oath to the American people and to Almighty God, I firmly rejected that request and fulfilled my duty that day.”
Trump responded to Pence’s remarks on social media, stating: “I feel sorry for Mike Pence, who is failing to attract crowds, enthusiasm, or loyalty from those who should be supporting him as a member of the Trump Administration.”

“He didn’t fight against Election Fraud, which we will now easily prove based on the recent Fake Indictment and information that will have to be disclosed to us. This is a really BIG deal,” Trump continued. “The Vice President had powers that Mike didn’t understand, but after the Election, the RINOS & Dems changed the law, stripping him of that power!”
