Pelosi’s daughter upset as Trump roams free while his supporters remain jailed.
Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s Daughter Sheds Light on Trump Supporters in New Documentary
In a captivating new documentary titled ”The Insurrectionist Next Door,” Alexandra Pelosi, daughter of Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), delves into the world of Trump supporters. The documentary follows the events of January 6, 2021, and the subsequent legal proceedings faced by some of the protesters who stormed the Capitol. Pelosi herself was present that day, accompanied by a film crew documenting the certification of President Joe Biden’s election victory.
During an appearance on The View, Pelosi shared her firsthand experience of witnessing the protesters from a window. She expressed her curiosity about their motivations, asking, “Who are these people? Why did they come?” Host Joy Behar sarcastically responded, “Well, who do you think led them there? Hello?”
Pelosi highlighted the stark contrast between former President Donald Trump, who remains free, and the protesters who have faced legal consequences. She emphasized that while the documentary focuses on those charged with misdemeanors for entering the Capitol, it does not feature interviews with individuals who caused damage or harmed officers. Instead, Pelosi suggested that more extreme groups like the Proud Boys manipulated these nonviolent offenders, whom they referred to as “normies.”
According to Pelosi, many of the subjects expressed remorse for their actions but still maintained unwavering loyalty to Trump. She explained, “A lot of what they say is: ‘I got caught up in the heat of the moment.’ That’s not an excuse. They did some really bad things. But there is a certain — [Trump] has the cult of personality, and they have a sort of religious attachment that is still not broken.”
Pelosi strongly rejected the notion of labeling these nonviolent offenders as mere “tourists,” citing a text message from one protester expressing a desire to ”put a bullet in Nancy Pelosi’s brain.” To her, January 6 represented one of the darkest days in American democracy.
The documentary, which includes raw footage captured by Pelosi’s crew, previously aired after a Jan. 6 commission hearing. The complete documentary is scheduled to premiere on HBO on October 15, with plans for streaming on HBO Max.
