Paul Pelosi charged with misdemeanor hit-and-run after hitting parked car

He was driving a 2025 Maserati GranCabrio convertible at the time and is scheduled to appear in court on August 14. Pelosi has apologized to the vehicle owner and will not be commenting further. The district attorney's office issued a rare public statement due to the case’s public interest.
Paul Pelosi, the husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), has been charged with a misdemeanor hit-and-run after authorities alleged he struck a parked vehicle and drove away in Napa County, California.
Pelosi, 86, is accused of hitting an unoccupied vehicle parked along the side of a road in Yountville on July 3, causing major rear-end damage. According to the Napa County Sheriff’s Office, Pelosi was not arrested and did not have alcohol in his system, but acknowledged to deputies that he had “hit something.”

“He said he did not know what he had hit, so he kept driving,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. “He drove until his car became disabled and was no longer able to continue driving.”
Witnesses who saw the crash called 911. Deputies later found Pelosi about a quarter-mile from the scene after his vehicle sustained significant damage.
Napa County District Attorney Allison Haley announced Friday that Pelosi has also been cited for making an unlawful turn, an infraction.
The district attorney’s office said it does not typically issue press releases for misdemeanor hit-and-run cases involving only property damage, but made an exception because of the significant public and media interest in the case.
According to the criminal complaint, Pelosi was driving a 2025 Maserati GranCabrio convertible at the time of the crash.

Pelosi is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 14.
“Mr. Paul Pelosi has personally apologized to the owner of the vehicle and assured them that he would take responsibility for the damage to their vehicle,” a spokesperson for the Pelosi family told CBS News. “Speaker Pelosi will not be commenting further on this private matter.”
