Attorney General Pam Bondi said it is not unusual for a minute to be missing from security footage of Jeffrey Epstein’s jail cell, saying this happens when the video will “reset.”
Bondi provided clarifications on the Department of Justice concluding its Epstein investigation, as she claimed in February that the convicted sex trafficker’s client list was “sitting on my desk right now to review.” She said Tuesday she was referring to a file on Epstein, which contained child pornography that will “never see the light of day.”
The public raised questions after a video of Epstein’s cell was released and a minute appeared to be missing, as the time jumps from 11:58:58 p.m. to midnight the next day. Bondi acknowledged the video was not conclusive, but “the evidence prior to it was, showing he committed suicide.”
“And what was on that, there was a minute that was off the counter, and what we learned from [the] Bureau of Prisons was every year, every … night, they redo that video,” Bondi said Tuesday.
“It’s old, like from 1999, so every night, the video is reset, and every night should have the same minute missing, so we’re looking for that video to release that as well, showing that a minute is missing every night. And that’s it on Epstein,” Bondi said.
Prior to Bondi’s statement, President Donald Trump appeared agitated when a reporter asked about “this creep” Epstein. Trump said he could not believe he was being asked this question amid the “success” of the nation and the flooding in Texas, calling the reporter’s question “a desecration.”

Bondi’s comments on closing the Epstein case come after FBI Director Kash Patel and FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino both insisted Epstein killed himself in May. Their comments have drawn the ire of Trump supporters.
Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) said on X there is “plenty of evidence” for Patel and Bongino to release that doesn’t pertain to the victims involved. She also said the public should be “free to come to their own conclusions.”
