Ozzy Osbourne to return to stage: “Wheel me out”

Ozzy Osbourne: The Prince of Darkness is Determined to Perform Live Again

Mama, He’s Coming Home

Despite health issues that led the 74-year-old rock legend to announce his retirement from touring earlier this year, Ozzy Osbourne is determined to make it back to where he feels most at home – on the stage.

In a new Metal Hammer magazine interview conducted by Tenacious D’s Jack Black and Kyle Gass, Osbourne said, “I mean, doing a live show is what I live for. I’ve had to cancel my [2023] European tour, but I’m determined [to get back onstage].”

Despite battling Parkinson’s disease and suffering crippling injuries that have required multiple spinal surgeries, the Prince of Darkness is planning to do whatever it takes to perform live again. “I’ve gotta do more gigs, [even] if I have to get someone to wheel me out there,” he said. “I mean, you can’t retire from this game. It’s not a job, it’s a f–king passion. I don’t know how to do anything else.”

So don’t expect Osbourne to go quietly into his golden years. “The thought of sitting in my house all day…I’m a road dog, you know? I’ve been doing it f–king 55 years. It’s the best thing to have ever happened to me.”

The Power Trip Festival

In March, Osbourne was announced as one of the headliners of the inaugural Power Trip metal festival in October. He is slated to share the stage with AC/DC on the second of the three-day fest that also features Guns N’ Roses, Iron Maiden, Metallica, and Tool.

Patient Number 9

Osbourne’s latest album, “Patient Number 9,” found him topping the charts and winning two Grammys. “It’s basically something that got me to stop thinking about my me, about my health,” he told The Post about the album in September. “It sends you f–king crazy, you know?”

“That’s why I’m surprised at how well it’s done,” Osbourne continued. “But my goal now is to get my health back together.”
