One Of Hollywood’s Original Nepo Babies Says She’ll Never Go Back To Acting

Actress Bridget Fonda was born into one of the most well-established Hollywood dynasties, but after 21 years away from the film industry, the “Single White Female” actress and bona fide “nepo baby” says she has no intention of ever going back.

Fonda is the daughter of Oscar-nominated actor Peter Fonda and Susan Brewer, the niece of two-time Oscar-winning actress Jane Fonda (who was nominated an additional five times), and the granddaughter of two-time Oscar-winning actor Henry Fonda. And although she made her screen debut at age 5 — an uncredited role in 1969’s “Easy Rider” — she says civilian life is more her speed.

The retired actress, who has only been seen in public a few times since she left the Hollywood scene in 2002, was spotted on Monday at the Los Angeles International Airport with her 18-year-old son, Oliver Elfman.

Asked by a paparazzo whether she planned to make another movie, she simply replied, “No.” When pressed further, she added, “I don’t think [there’s any chance]. It’s too nice being a civilian.”

After “Easy Rider,” Fonda made her own mark on the industry with roles in films like “Point of No Return,” “Single White Female,” “Lake Placid,” and “Jackie Brown.” She earned critical acclaim — and a Primetime Emmy Award – for her portrayal of Anne in the made-for-TV movie “In the Gloaming” opposite Glenn Close and Whoopi Goldberg. She earned Golden Globe nominations for her roles in “After Amy” (2002) and “Scandal” (1989).

In 2002, however, the actress decided she’d had enough of Hollywood. She retired from acting when she got engaged to her film composer and Oingo Boingo alum husband Danny Elfman. The two share one child, Oliver, who was born in 2005.

Since she retired from the entertainment industry, Fonda has only been spotted publicly a handful of times — once on her 58th birthday in January of 2022, and then again this week at LAX with her son.
