Officials: Person Dies After Brain-Eating Amoeba Infection
PUNTA GORDA, Fla.—A person in southwest Florida has died after being infected with an extremely rare brain-eating amoeba, health officials said.
On Thursday, the Florida Department of Health confirmed that there was a death. This alert was previously sent by the agency last month to warn residents of the Naegleria Fowleri disease.
