NYPD Officer Dies After Being Shot In Head During Attempted Robbery

A New York City Police Department officer died days after Being shot in the head During an attempted robbery over the weekend.

Adeed Fayaz 26, a NYPD officer, died on Tuesday. This was hours after a suspect had been arrested.

“Police Officer Adeed Fayaz was a father, a husband, a son, and a protector of our great city,” Sewell stated. “Officer Fayaz was shot Saturday night and he tragically succumbed to his injuries today. Our Department deeply mourns his passing, and his family and loved ones are in our prayers.”

According to officials, Fayaz went off duty Saturday to go with a relative on Ruby Street in Brooklyn in order to purchase a vehicle. This transaction was done via social media. The suspect pulled out a gun to announce a robbery. Officers were then struck.

Fayaz was in critical condition when he was taken to Brookdale Hospital.

According to police, Randy Jones (38), was arrested Monday at a Rockland County Hotel in connection with the shooting. As of press time, charges were still pending.Sources in law enforcement confirmed that 26-year old off-duty NYPD officer was shot dead during an attempted robbery.

“We wanted him to know what he did to that officer and that officer’s cuffs were on him,” James Essig, NYPD Chief of Detectives, said Tuesday. According to NBC New York. “I think it sends a powerful message.”

Police stated that Jones had been arrested at least three times before, including one for strangulation in 2014. CBS News reported.

Authorities stated that they believed the suspect did not know that the target of the attempted theft was an off-duty police officer.

Fayaz’s widow and his two children are his survivors.
