New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) said he supports vaccine mandates and advised businesses to implement them as soon as possible. On Friday, the Democrat mayor said although he thinks masks are helpful, he believes mandates will be the answer to New York City’s infection problem.

De Blasio added new mask guidance could come as early as Monday. He went on to tout his new program that gives $100 to New Yorkers as a way to incentivize vaccinations.

“We’re acting fast on a thing that makes a difference. That’s why we put a mandate in place for vaccination for public employees, that’s why we created the $100 incentive to get people vaccinated,” said de Blasio.

De Blasio said it may come to the point where vaccinated New Yorkers will be able to do all the things they love in the city, where those who aren’t vaccinated will find that they can’t.
