NY Post Editorial Board: Beware the Left’s Growing Embrace of “Mob Rule” Protests
The American left is on the verge of mimicking the Jan. 6, 2021, US Capitol riot as peaceful attempts to influence the government transform into outright intimidation of lawmakers.
A group of 12 “Tax the rich” protesters were arrested on Monday after occupying the historic War Room in the state Capitol building.
The previous Friday, a tenant-activist mob demanding the inclusion of the “Good Cause Eviction” universal-rent-control bill in the state budget resulted in 36 protesters being arrested outside Gov. Hochul’s office in Albany.
Moreover, leftists frequently protest outside Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s home in Park Slope, sometimes persisting throughout the night.
During the summer of 2020, some George Floyd protests spiraled into rolling riots across the United States, and the federal courthouse in Portland was under attack for months. In addition, Antifa recently hurled Molotov cocktails at the “Cop City” training site in Atlanta last month.
Last year, pro-abortion demonstrations occurred at several US Supreme Court justice homes in violation of federal law, yet such “activism” encouraged a mentally unstable young man to plot the assassination of Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
