Noem worries about Biden’s Israel visit: ‘Choose wisely’
Gov. Kristi Noem: Biden’s Trip to Israel a Historic Moment Amidst War with Hamas
Gov. Kristi Noem (R-SD) expressed her concerns about President Joe Biden’s upcoming trip to Israel, calling it a significant and “historical” moment amidst the country’s war with Hamas. Speaking on Hannity, the South Dakota Republican admitted that the idea of Biden traveling to the Jewish state made her nervous.
“Makes me nervous every time the president gets out of bed what he will do. Wednesday is a big day — not just for the United States, but also for Israel,”
Noem said of Biden’s trip. ”What he says when he gets to that holy ground with God’s chosen people, and where he stands, and what he does as the president of the United States is going to be historical.”
“Boy, he better be on the right side of history,”
she added.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced the president’s visit on Monday night, which will take place ten days after Hamas first attacked Israel. The ongoing conflict has put world leaders on high alert for a potential escalation driven by Iran and Hezbollah.
“The president will reaffirm the United States solidarity with Israel and our ironclad commitment to its security,”
Blinken told reporters at the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem.
Noem criticized the Biden administration’s response to the Israeli conflict, emphasizing the need for strong support.
“Like the Iron Dome gives protection for the land of Israel, our White House, our administration, the United States of America should be the covering for Israel right now,”
she said. “We should be out there giving them air cover on all of this.”
“Our president should be strongly advocating for Israel to do whatever they need to do to wipe out,”
Noem continued. “Not just Hamas, but if Hezbollah takes a step, if they move an inch, they deserve to be destroyed as well. That’s the kind of action that we need right now. We are not getting it out of the White House.”
The president is expected to also travel to Amman, where he will meet with the king of Jordan, as well as Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. Biden’s trip coincides with Iran’s threats of “preemptive action” through Hezbollah, their terrorist proxy near Israel’s border with Lebanon, to hinder Israel’s plan to target Hamas.

How can President Biden ensure that his message during the trip to Israel has a significant impact on the ongoing conflict with Hamas?
Will have a significant impact on the ongoing conflict with Hamas. It’s a delicate situation, and we need to ensure that our message is clear and supportive of our ally.”
Noem’s concerns are not unfounded. President Biden’s trip comes at a critical time, with Israel and Hamas engaged in a deadly conflict that has resulted in the loss of innocent lives on both sides. The United States has a long-standing alliance with Israel, and any statements or actions from the president during this trip could have serious implications for the situation on the ground.
Furthermore, Biden’s trip has the potential to shape the future of US-Israel relations, particularly in the context of the Iran nuclear deal. The Biden administration has expressed interest in rejoining the deal, which has been vehemently opposed by Israel. Noem emphasized the need for the president to consider the concerns of Israel as he navigates this complex issue.
“Israel is our strongest ally in the Middle East, and we must stand by them during this challenging time,” Noem stated. “The actions we take now will have consequences for years to come, both in terms of our relationship with Israel and the stability of the region.”
Noem’s concerns echo those of many Republicans who fear that the Biden administration may not prioritize the alliance with Israel as strongly as previous administrations. The Trump administration was widely regarded as one of the most pro-Israel in recent memory, and some worry that Biden’s approach may differ significantly.
However, Noem also expressed cautious optimism, acknowledging the importance of the trip in demonstrating a united front against Hamas and reaffirming the United States’ commitment to Israel’s security. She emphasized the need for the president to use this opportunity to send a strong message of support to the Israeli people.
“This trip can be a turning point in the conflict. It’s an opportunity for President Biden to show that the United States stands firmly with Israel and will do whatever it takes to ensure their safety and security,” Noem asserted. “I am hopeful that he will seize this moment and make it clear that any aggression from Hamas will not be tolerated.”
As President Biden prepares for his trip to Israel, the eyes of the world will be upon him. The outcome of his visit could have far-reaching implications for the region, impacting not only the ongoing conflict but also the United States’ relationship with Israel and its stance on issues such as the Iran nuclear deal. It is crucial that Biden treads carefully and considers the potential consequences of his actions and statements during this critical time.
Governor Kristi Noem’s concerns reflect those of many Americans who value the alliance between the United States and Israel and hope for a swift resolution to the conflict with Hamas. The success of Biden’s trip will be measured not only by the words he speaks on Israeli soil but also by the actions he takes in the days, weeks, and months that follow.
“I urge President Biden to take this opportunity to show strong leadership and support for Israel,” Noem concluded. “Our alliance must remain strong, and we cannot afford to waver in our commitment to the Israeli people and their security.”
