No Labels Considers Halting Support for Third-Party Candidate in 2024

No Labels, a centrist political organization, is making waves as it attempts to rally support for a third-party candidate in the upcoming 2024 presidential race. However, recent polling results may cause the group to reconsider its efforts.

“No Labels is not and will not be a spoiler in favor of Donald Trump in 2024,” said Dr. Ben Chavis, the Democratic co-chairman of No Labels, in an interview with NBC News on Thursday.

The organization plans to make a final decision after Super Tuesday and before their national convention in Dallas on April 14, 2024.

“If we find that the polls are changed and Joe Biden is way, way out ahead, and the person who the Republicans may choose — and if they continue to choose Donald Trump, even though he’s been indicted — then No Labels will stand down,” Chavis explained.

However, No Labels is facing criticism and concerns from various groups. A recent off-the-record gathering in Washington, D.C. revealed worries that the organization’s efforts could be risky.

Democrats and anti-Trump allies have voiced their opposition, arguing that a unity presidential ticket could ultimately lead to a Trump victory.

Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-VA) stated, “No Labels is wasting resources and that the organization ‘divides voters and has one obvious outcome — reelecting Donald Trump as president.'”

In addition to facing pushback, No Labels is currently engaged in a dispute with Maine’s secretary of state’s office regarding allegations of misleading voters during the signature collection process to get the party on the ballot.

The Arizona Democratic Party has even filed a lawsuit against No Labels, claiming that the organization fails to meet legal requirements and lacks transparency.

Interestingly, Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) serves as an honorary co-chairman of No Labels, sparking speculation that he may be considering a third-party run. While Manchin has not confirmed his plans for the 2024 election, he has left the door open, stating, “Everything’s on the table and nothing off the table” in a recent interview with CBS.

As the race for the 2024 presidency unfolds, the future of No Labels and its support for a third-party candidate remains uncertain.
